Always dreaming of more, Joni wanted to explore the continents, dine in the 4 corners of the world, and fight pirates, bandits, or marauders. Of course, none of this went how Joni thought.

Growing up, he would frequently put on flower pots or buckets as helmets and swing sticks as swords. He would read books of adventurers and imagine himself as them. He would often get into fights with much older boy’s in an attempt to be a hero and save someone - which always went very poorly.

When Joni reached of age, his dreams of travel lead him to joining the cities army, but he’s not particularly strong, nor able to have enduring stamina and of a clumsy nature, which resulted in a very swift dismissal.

One of his very first jobs out of the army was pulling pints at a local tavern. He wasn’t very good. Numerous spilled pints, over-foamed, and many bar fights. As a last straw before his end of employment, he was made to work in the kitchen with the chef making pies. He would never read recipes, follow directions, and often mixed ingredients together without thought or care. Once, he caused a food poisoning epidemic, which lead to the inevitable closure of the tavern.

He left many towns and cities searching for adventure. He would aim to work on himself, wanting to become stronger and prove that he can do it.

His travels eventually lead him to a small abandoned farm inhabited by a single chicken. Joni helped the chicken by getting some grain from an unreachable shelf. The two of them became friends as the chicken would refuse to leave Joni alone. Joni named the chicken Peep and they have been inseparable since.

He continues to wander the world, looking for ways to make his dreams a reality; blissfully unaware that he is currently living them.

Personality

Joni is an overly optimistic, naïve, wanderlust bound boy who see’s everyone in need of help as an opportunity to gain favour with the world.

His naivety, and it has gotten him into trouble many times in the past. Far too many times he accepts quests where he’s promised rewards, only to decline when the quest giver returns some sad tale - which to any seasoned adventurer would know is fake.

He isn’t a bad person, often seeing the world through an unfathomable positive light. Endlessly curious and wanting to seek out the good. He’s aware that he’s clumsy, but finds it to be an endearing element to himself.

Joni’s best friend and wonderful companion is his Chicken, Peep. They always venture together, and he’s always sure to ask Peep questions and to value his opinion, seeing Peep as some form of brilliant battle tactician. Of course, Peep can’t give valued opinions as Peep is a Chicken.

Ultimately, Joni is blissfully unaware of the greater world, and the strength and might within him.

Playstyle

Joni is a confident Damage Dealing Hero.

They are by design simple to understand, and to play. No special abilities which dramatically change the playstyle, or abilities which require complex counting. The most complex moments would be when the player will need to roll the dice to add values to an existing stat. This was intentional and aims to mimic other pen and paper RPG’s.

A number of their Ability Cards can deal AOE Damage, which means if they are ambushed by a Support Monster, or one that has the Resurrect ability, they are able to deal extra damage.

Also, a number of abilities deal True Damage, which is a damage type which negates Armour, and inflicts damage direct to Health, again, this is to make the character easier to play.
